Who are Care Advocates?
Papa Community Care Advocates are certified Community Health Workers who have completed extensive training with over 500 hours of experience. They are certified by the Florida Certification Board.
Care Advocates are often also known as Patient Advocates or Care Coordinator Advocates.
Our Care Advocates specialize in navigating the healthcare system, understanding health insurance benefits & billing, and connecting with social services—and they're focused entirely on helping you achieve your health goals.
What kind of help can I get from a Care Advocate?
A Papa Community Care Advocate is like having a professional partner in your corner who knows exactly how the healthcare system works. They help make sense of confusing medical talk from doctors, and help you find specialist doctors that are covered by your insurance. They also handle the "boring stuff" that causes stress, like checking your medical bills for mistakes and calling insurance companies to make sure they pay their fair share. Instead of you spending hours on the phone or feeling lost, your advocate does the hard work so you can focus on feeling better.
How does Papa Community work?
After you sign up, you'll start with a brief virtual doctor visit to discuss your health history and daily challenges. The doctor will create a personalized care plan, and then we'll match you with a Papa Community Care Advocate who will contact you to get started.
This initial virtual doctor visit is not for medical emergencies or treatment. If you have a medical emergency, please call 9-1-1. For diagnosis or treatment, contact your primary care physician.
Are Papa Community Care Advocates experts?

What will I talk to the doctor about in the initial virtual visit?
This appointment is about understanding your situation. The doctor will ask about your health history and daily challenges to create a care plan that connects you with the right resources.
This is not an appointment for medical emergencies or treatment. If you have a medical emergency, please call 9-1-1. For diagnosis or treatment, please contact your primary care physician.
How does the doctor visit work?
After completing the sign up forms, you can schedule a convenient time to meet with your doctor virtually. We recommend using video for a more personal experience, but you may choose a phone call if you are unable to use video. Either option ensures you receive the dedicated care and attention you deserve.
Is my information safe?
Yes. We partner with HIPAA-compliant healthcare platforms to keep your information safe and secure. We’ll never sell your information, and we won’t show your records to anyone without your permission.
How much does Papa Community cost?
Papa Community is covered by Original Medicare (Medicare Part B) for Florida residents. Depending on your supplemental coverage, your out-of-pocket costs may be as low as $0.
Do you accept all Medicare plans?
We currently only serve members with Original Medicare in Florida. Original Medicare is also called Traditional Medicare or Medicare Part B. This means if you get your benefits directly through the federal government and use a Red, White, and Blue card, you may qualify! If you have a Medicare Advantage plan (like HMO or PPO plans from UnitedHealthcare, Humana, Aetna or Florida Blue), we are not able to support you at this time.
How do I know if my insurance is accepted?
We will check your insurance before your first visit with the doctor. Our team looks at the health plan info you shared when you signed up to make sure you are covered. If we find that we don’t take your plan, we will email you right away. This way, you will know exactly what to expect before you even meet with the doctor.
Where are your services available?
Papa Community is available to Original Medicare members in Florida. All services are provided virtually—by video call, phone, or text message—in English.
